My Story
the short of it
Hi, my name is Gab Gordon.
I am a Graphic Designer & Photographer based in the Hudson Valley. I strive to uncover and share stories through my practices and use them as a way to meaningfully connect with others. I am passionate about strategic problem-solving from start to finish and can often be found perfecting the small details to create a comprehensive final solution. I continuously spend time learning and reading in an effort to sharpen my skills.
I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from The College of Saint Rose with dual minors in Photography and Art History. My well-rounded education and experience as an in-house, agency side, and freelance designer, has shaped my thought process. I love to work on any type of project that allows me to tell impactful stories through word and image.
By day I am an Assistant Art Director & Producer at 2communiqué — a content strategy and creative design firm — that collaborates with educational institutions and organizations to develop custom storytelling and brand-aligned design.

the long of it
Hi, my name is Gab Gordon and I have been doing the same things since I was a little kid.
Except then, I didn’t know that I could make a whole career out of it. I spent many hours at the kitchen table making and drawing and have always been interested in how things work/fit together. Listening to music and reading stories were woven into my everyday life for as long as I can remember (after all my family doesn’t know what silence is).

From very early on, my education set a course that led to the path of my future.
I was given my first camera circa age 8 — it went everywhere with me. In 7th grade, I took my first graphic design class and it pretty much changed my life. I finally had a name for the creative things I liked to do. Once I exhausted my art class options in high school, I took independent study for both graphic design and photography knowing that was the career path I wanted to be on. I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design with dual minors in Photography and Art History from the College of Saint Rose in 2020. During those 4 years of working hard in the studio, art and design taught me everything I did not know and reinforced the things I did. Determination took on a new form. I made many connections and payed them forward as best I could. I continued to stay curious and absorb as much knowledge as I could.

An in-house designer position is a unique experience that teaches you far more than designing for one brand.
My BFA junior year internship turned into a full time position post graduation as an in-house designer for Envision Architects. Working on one brand day in and day out on a broad range of tasks taught me to push the boundaries and create systems and processes to be more efficient. Using the same identity palette each day brought upon a unique challenge I grew to love. I fell into a role within the business development team which gave me a deep understanding of what goes into keeping your team busy and expanding your client base.

Joining a collaborative studio environment with a small internal team lead me to big projects with amazing partners.
By day I am an Assistant Art Director & Producer at 2communiqué, a content strategy and creative design firm. Alongside my team, I collaborate with educational institutions and organizations to develop custom storytelling and brand-aligned design. Although I do not have a camera in my hand often, I spend a lot of time art directing photography for our clients and 2communiqué’s brand. Preserving stories through this medium and using my photo skills to strengthen our storytelling is incredibly rewarding. The other half of my role, focuses on my love for creating new processes and streamlining operations to advance our studio.

You must be thinking that I have to like other things besides art & design…
I am a Headbanger who saw my first arena show at age 14 and since then have been to over 40 concerts and have seen some of my favorite artists — including Metallica, KISS, Elton John, Eric Clapton, and Aerosmith (x2). My vinyl record collection spans 6 decades and multiple genres and my outrageous shoe collection features 10 pairs of Doc Martens and countess pairs of Vans. I cherish time spent with my family and other loved ones over a good meal.
