Identity redesign
City of Albany
Industry:
Municipal / Government
The City of Albany needed to discover its identity. Previously relying on the outdated City Seal, they needed to be able to better position themselves as the capital of New York State while still maintaining distance from the New York State brand. Working with myself & The College of Saint Rose, an identity system was developed to address the varying needs of the many departments within the city.
The concept for the logomark was developed after extensive research about the history of the city and focused on the patterns seen in dutch floor tiles.

A vertical alternate was developed to work on the arm patches of first responders, as well as other vertical uses. The color palette reflects dutch roots while maintaining distance from the New York State brand, which was a previous point of confusion.

A stationery package was developed with the ability to be double or single sided for budgetary reasons.
